West Ham v QPR....Game observations
We defended from the front, Sakho and Valencia worked unbelievably hard from the top. The movement and understanding was top class. We have a pair of players up top that have the ability and work ethic to be an asset in any premier league team.

The back 4 were really tight and made all the right decisions. Cresswell is a real talent and is arguably one of our best young LB's in a while. The 2 CB's were solid and played really well together and were tight when they needed to be and dropped off when it was needed. Jenkinson is a better defender than attacker that is for sure his positioning is very good although he seems somewhat uncomfortable on the ball at times but a real asset to our defence.

The midfield were everywhere, absolutely class. Downing as usual this season the best of the bunch. He has been great for us this season and was a constant thorn in QPR's side. Song was tidy by a bit leggy and Morgan worked hard.

Overall we were light years ahead of this QPR team and look like we have the fight and skill to be a real threat to any team this season.

He didn't stop all game and is a real asset to the team

Re: West Ham v QPR....Game observations
Adrian - Not a lot for him to do but great save from Kranjcar free kick. I'm a bit nervous on crosses, seems to slowly be turning into Jussi (punching & flapping rather than scooping up crosses) I'd like to see a top keeper come in next summer to challenge him.

Jenkinson - Looked a bit rusty but that is down to match fitness. His final ball was poor and needs to improve on his decision making in the final third. However he just needs game time as I think he has potential to be a good player.

Cresswell - Really pleased with him. He sometimes gets exposed and his final ball was poor at times against QPR but I think overall he will prove to be a terrific buy. Good link up play with Downing and will be a good player for us. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets an England call up in then next couple of years

Reid - Solid, reliable and commanding but not a difficult test for him today.

Tomkins - Same as Reid although he does sometimes get bullied but overall he did well especially once Zamora came on who is a handful and gave him a tough time.

Song - Needs games and although this will be one of the easy games he will play this year he still looks a class act. Strong, solid, a leader and I still can't believe he came to us. Even though he is probably at around 70% you can see he is a top player. Sometimes he makes a silly pass but this is because he is a bit rusty. He will be key to us alongside Downing & Kouyate.

Amalfitano - a good player, likes a tackle & a pass and shows some nice touches. His final ball into the box was poor today with everything being launched straight into Green. He faded in and out of the game at times but once he settles in and gets match fit I think he will be a good squad player for us.

Downing - Although he is more affective at the tip of the diamond he was still class. Worked hard, runs all day. Has a great eye for a pass. Great player but just needs to turn his quality into chipping in with more goals, especially from dead balls. But he was very good and is now our key player.

Zarate - technically looked great, but he is too soft-centered. Needs to get more involved and stop complaining when he gets bullied off the ball. I think we will see more from him as the season progresses but I see him more as an impact sub when Kouyate & Noble return.

Sakho - You would think that he was the £15M player. Worked tirelessly for the team and a defenders nightmare. Physical, quick and seems to always be in the right place at the right time. I'm not sure he can keep this intensity up all season but so far he has been a steal at £3.5M. Great effort and desire and fully deserves the praise he is getting.

Valencia - although he has done well, I think he needs a little bit more settling in time than Sakho. He is a lively player with lots of energy and works hard. When he beds in more the goals will come and he won't fade in and out of games which he tends to do. I wanted to see more from him especially against such a poor team as QPR. But he will improve with more games.

Subs - Jarvis, he was just given some minutes to start building up his match fitness. Looked rusty as you can expect but I can't see a role for him at the club once the injured players return. He should move on in the summer.

Nolan - the booing was disgraceful. Looked very rusty which is what you'd expect after being injured. A great Captain and presence to have around the club but he should be nothing more than a key impact sub once the injured players return as he is now way down the pecking order.

Seems a genuine divide on this site. People who actually attend games and see the whole picture rate Noble - those that don't attend games and just watch on the TV (where the camera only follows where the ball is) don't rate him as highly.

Make of that what you will...

..Still haven't seen it but commentators on radio said it was a close call, Hartson who was co commentating said it should have stood..

็Hartson was wrong then.

I don't hate him...

I just don't rate him...

On WHO if you don't rate Noble it is seen as you must hate him.

It's the Towner way.

He also didn't play when we lost against a poor Man Utd and should have at least drawn.

No doubt you'll mention Spurs. Then I'd point out another game. So I'll save you the bother.

Why do you hate him so much?

We massively missed Noble. I thought we were ok. I liked Jenko.

According to John Cross of the Mirror, Redknapp's new contract extension offer is now on hold. Fernandes is ranting at their poor performances so far. Looks like old twitchy could be favourite for the chop next.

Zamora is better than Cole, true, but he's had some real injury problems over the past few seasons - 80 appearances in 5 seasons. At least Cole has remained relatively injury free.

Re: West Ham v QPR....Game observations
I would say the only positive for QPR yesterday was Zamora. He looked hungry, competitive and showed his experience turning and out fighting Tomkins a couple of times.

I would have preferred him to Cole over the last couple of years. Happy he got a good reception from the crowd.

Is hoddle really as good as some imply ? I think QPR are in a right fucking mess and even Jose wouldn't sort that shit out ... They have to hope burnley continue to struggle and several others start a bad run

I'm sure that quick free kicks used to be allowed... West Ham had a reputation for taking them... player asked the ref if it was okay and then went ahead and took the free kick without needing to wait for the whistle.

I remember we scored from one that was heavily featured on tv at the time, many years ago... 15/20 years ago.

I had an interesting observation at yesterday's game. The bloke in the disabled section in the the row in front of me shuffled in on a pair of walking sticks, jumped up and ran around like Usain bolt when we scored our second goal. Seems God might be a Hammers fan after all .

Re: West Ham v QPR....Game observations
Not a great game, but we won it without really trying.

Positives:
Central Defense looked very strong, especially Tomkins.
RB and LB looked good coming forward and never beaten.
Sakho and Valenica never stopped running. So refreshing to have movement in the team. Sakho looks and absolute steal.
Downing again looked very good.

QPR reminded me of us a couple of few seasons ago. A lot of has beens and foreign players who don't want to be there. How Fer cost 10m I have no idea, such a lazy player. Also, I don't think Harry will be there much longer and Hoddle is primed to take over.
